Welcome Lindsay Roberts Greene as Arts Ignite’s NEW Executive Director!

The Arts Ignite Board of Directors has named Lindsay Roberts Greene as Arts Ignite’s new Executive Director! Effective April 26th, Lindsay will assume responsibility for the organization’s strategic direction and day-to-day operations, leading us into our eighteenth year.

Lindsay joined the Arts Ignite team in 2021 as the Director of Programs. In this role, she strengthened our program standards and evaluation, led the charge to transition our volunteer model to paid teaching artist positions aligned with equitable professional standards, and expanded our reach to new partnerships including the NYC Department of Education, NYC Department of Parks, Covenant House NYC, Apex for Youth, Goddard Riverside, the Waterloo Community School District in Waterloo, Iowa, the Patrick Henry School of Science and Art in Richmond Virginia, Creative Borders in Gaborone, Botswana, and the Ubumwe Project in Kampala, Uganda. In February 2023, Lindsay’s role was augmented as she was promoted to Deputy Executive Director for Programs and Operations. Prior to joining the staff, Lindsay served as a Teaching Artist in our programs at Shanti Bhavan in Bangalore, India and the Newcomer Youth Summer Academy in NYC.

Lindsay brings an extensive background in education, program development, and artistry to the Executive Director position. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Maryland in Opera/Vocal Performance with a concentration in Music Education, a Master of Science in Arts Administration from Drexel University, and graduate certificates from both Cornell University and Umass Amherst. Lindsay is a Certified Diversity Professional through the National Diversity Council, specializing in culturally responsive arts education and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the arts sector. Her performance credits include multiple television appearances, recordings, and onstage productions including The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

Arts Ignite also wants to recognize and thank Carl Sylvestre, our outgoing Executive Director. Under Carl’s leadership, Arts Ignite received its first government grants, diversified and strengthened our funding sources, crafted a multi-year strategic plan, and rebranded from our founding name, ASTEP.

Undoubtedly, Carl’s accomplishments have set the stage for Lindsay to take on the Executive Director role with confidence. Her passion for our mission and dedication to our students around the world has proven her to be an invaluable asset as we’ve built new partnerships, launched new programs, and expanded our reach farther than ever before. We look forward to seeing her continued impact on Arts Ignite and the incredible work that we will do together under her leadership.
