Creative Activity Kits Bring Joy to 600 NYC Students

600 students. 15 different sites. 5 boroughs. 1 amazing summer.

You could practically feel the joy every time Arts Ignite Teaching Artists led students from the NYC Department of Parks’ summer camps through ‘Amani Creates a Scene,’ the latest workbook from our Creative Activity Kits Program. Kids beamed as they made friendship bracelets, danced, drew characters, and brought entire scenes to life.

“It was very impressive to see how many possibilities existed for the students to activate their creativity.”

-Emily, Arts Ignite Teaching Artist

Since 2021, Arts Ignite has provided over 4,000 Creative Activity Kits to young people across New York City. Developed initially to meet our student’s needs during the pandemic, the kits offer a technology-free learning experience to kids who may not have access to digital learning tools.

To learn more about how the program works, and hear directly from students themselves, watch this video featuring a workshop in action.

This partnership required two days and a dedicated team of volunteers to assemble all of the kits. Once completed, our team distributed them to kids ranging from ages 6-13, representing a diverse array of experiences. After the workshops, students brought the kits home with them to continue their artistic journeys.

If you are interested in sponsoring an assembly day, contact our team for more information.
