Connect: Arts Ignite Celebrates Arts Education in RVA

Arts Ignite will host local Richmond talent and award-winning Broadway performers in support of arts education in RVA.

For one night only, an ensemble of talented artists from Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), renowned Broadway Stars, and more will gather for an evening of songs and stories through Connect: Arts Ignite Celebrates Arts Education in RVA! The event will take place Sunday, October 15 at 7:00 PM at VCU’s Grace Street Theater (934 West Grace Street, Richmond VA 23220).

Conceived by Richmond locals Dr. Keith Bell, Janet Starke, and Scott Putman as well as NYC’s Mary-Mitchell Campbell (Company, The Prom, Mean Girls), these students and artists invite an audience to celebrate and support the arts programming Arts Ignite is bringing to Richmond, most specifically, to Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts (PHSAA) The event will give just a glimpse of the joy being created by students at the school, as well as breathtaking performances by some of RVA’s and Broadway’s best, delving into the power of arts and community. With music supervision by acclaimed Music Director Mary-Mitchell Campbell, this exceptional performance will feature performances by Desirèe Roots, Georgia Rogers Farmer, Lindsay Roberts Greene, Brian Davis, PHSSA’s own principal, Tarneé Hudson who, herself, is an accomplished performer, and more!

All proceeds for this event will directly support the Arts Ignite program Rising Stars at PHSSA, with three weeks of residencies by several NYC-based Teaching Artists, over the course of the year. In addition, the program is making plans to train local student artists, from VCU, to introduce college students to the field of teaching artistry.
