2022 Changemakers Award!

2022 Changemakers Award

“Igniting a generation of creative leaders for change!”

Calling all change makers! Rooted in our mission, the Arts Ignite Changemakers Award provides financial support to a student leader committed to positively impacting their community through the arts. An award in the amount of $1,500 will be given to a recipient proposing a new or existing artistic community project plan or to a student continuing their education in an artistic field of study.

Looking to organize a community mural? Planning to host a poetry slam in your student union? Starting a mentorship program at your local dance studio? Continuing your studies in music education? If you love the arts, community, and are committed to leading change, this opportunity is for you!

Eligibility: High school students in grades 9-12 and undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are welcome to apply. Students applying for academic scholarships towards their continued education must be attending or plan to attend an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical training program in the Fall 2022 semester.

Arts Ignite’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and the mutual respect for the diverse beliefs and values of all individuals and groups is foundational.

We especially encourage project proposals that:
-Serve communities of color including, but not limited to, African American communities, Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, Latino American communities, Indigenous and Alaska Native tribes, and Middle Eastern American communities
-Serve LGBTQIA+ communities
-Serve Disability communities
-Serve youth or youth education efforts
-Enrich our humanity through cross-cultural collaboration

We similarly encourage students attending or planning to attend:
-Historically Black Colleges and Universities
-Tribal Colleges and Universities
-African American Serving Institutions
-Hispanic Serving Institutions

All applicants must submit either a video or a written essay answering the question: How are you an agent of transformation in your community? How do the arts support that transformation? Give specific examples from your life and personal beliefs. (Videos: 3 mins max.; Essays: 2 pages max.)

Project Proposal Applicants: Please also submit a project proposal with a project description, timeline, and budget.

Academic Scholarship Applicants: Please share how this grant award will support your future academic and professional goals.
